Komi (Komi Kepir) Κώμη (Κώμη Κεπίρ)
Komi (Komi Kepir) is a predominantly Greek mixed in the occupied Karpasia region.
Geographical Location: It lies 33 km North of Ammochostos at an elevation of 90m.
Population: The population of this community consisted in 1960 of 654 Greeks and 289 Turks. Its Greek population in 1973 was 562 and its Turkish population in 1973 was 200.
Christian Places of Worship: Within this community, are the churches of Agios Georgios, Agios Afxentios, Agios Loukas and the chapels of Panagia Kyra, Agios Georgios o Parouzos, Agios Vasileios (ruins), Agios Fotios (ruins), Agia AIkaterini (ruins).
Schools: The 1 Greek Primary Schools had 66 students during the 1973-74 school year.
Effects of the 1974 Turkish Invasion: During the Turkish Invasion of 1974, this community was taken over by the Turkish army and as a result the whole of its Greek population was ethnically cleansed. Since then, the Turkish occupation forces and the illegal occupation authority prevent their return.
