Ampelikou Αμπελικού

Ampelikou is a predominantly Turkish mixed in the occupied part of the Lefkosia District.

Geographical Location: It lies 51 km West of Nicosia and 19 km Southwest of Morfou, on the eastern section of the Tillyria region at an elevation of 170m.

Population: The population of this community consisted in 1960 of 63 Greeks and 485 Turks.

Christian Places of Worship: Within this community, is the church of Agios Georgios.

Effects of the 1974 Turkish Invasion: During the Turkish Invasion of 1974, this community was taken over by the Turkish army and as a result the whole of its Greek population was ethnically cleansed. Since then, the Turkish occupation forces and the illegal occupation authority prevent their return.
